Yakima Federal Savings and Loans opens its scholarship to high school graduates | News


YAKIMA, WA – Yakima Federal Savings and Loan is now accepting applications for its Academic Excellence Awards program, where local high school seniors can receive individual awards of up to $2,000.

To be eligible, applicants must reside in Yakima, Kittitas, Benton, or Franklin counties, graduate in the top 10% of their class, and have demonstrated high moral character, hard work, and ambition during their high school career. The application should also be accompanied by a one-page cover letter outlining future plans, school and life experiences, including challenges faced and overcome, and the impact of winning an award.

Students can view the requirements and apply online now at YakimaFed.com/scholarship. The application deadline is April 25, 2022.

Yakima Federal Savings and Loan funded the program with $160,000 for area senior graduate awards. Individual prizes are $2,000 each.

Scholarships are limited to two applicants from each school in the region. Homeschooled students are also eligible. Scholarships are funded upon student enrollment for the fall semester following graduation. Scholarship checks are issued to the order of the school in which the student is registered. Recipients will be notified by June 1, 2022.

Yakima Federal has provided over two million dollars in college scholarships to local high school seniors through its Academic Excellence Awards program over the past 45 years.
