New York: Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his address to the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on Saturday stressed the importance of natural resources and said “we must protect our oceans”.
“Our oceans are also the lifeline of international trade. We must protect them from the race to expand,” Prime Minister Modi said. Prime Minister Modi also added that the international community must speak with one voice to strengthen the rules-based world order.
Prime Minister Modi also spoke about India’s efforts in vaccine development and pointed out that despite limited resources, “India is working aggressively for vaccine development and manufacture”.
Prime Minister Modi arrived in Washington on Wednesday for a three-day visit to the country, his first beyond the neighborhood since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
He attended the Quad Leaders Summit on Friday and announced that India will make 8 million doses of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine available by the end of October as part of the Quad vaccine partnership.
