Lakepoint State Park Off-Road Course Holds Groundbreaking Ceremony

EUFAULA, Ala. (WTVY) – Lakepoint State Park now has an exciting new feature.

On Thursday, park officials met with local leaders and members of the business community for a groundbreaking ceremony for the new all-terrain vehicle course, located on the grounds of the old golf course.

“Lakepoint State Park has a reputation as a family fishing destination and we want to bring new amenities to the park that will enhance the overall guest experience,” said Chris Blankenship, Commissioner of the Department of Conservation and of Alabama’s natural resources. “Providing this new ORV course here at Lakepoint is another example of expanding our offerings to a growing outdoor recreation segment, and if you like a more relaxing golf cart cruise, you can also take a tour on our new motorized nature trail.”

The course is open to anyone for $20 and can be driven with off-road vehicles with novice and experienced courses.

According to a press release, the creation of the all-terrain vehicle course and motorized nature trail, which is woven into the campground, provides additional amenities for visitors to Lakepoint State Park. A grant from the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs helped fund the projects in Lakepoint.

The park is working to secure off-road side-by-side vehicles for rent and use on the course, but currently visitors must provide their own vehicle for use.

The off-road course will be open Wednesday to Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
