BNRF says ready to help new ministry
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Bahamas Natural Resources Foundation (BNRF) praised the Davis-led administration for what it called a “visionary position” in creating the first Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources.
After Golden Isles MP Vaughn Miller was sworn in as Minister of Environment and Natural Resources, BNRF said, “The minister appointed to lead this monumental office is Golden Isles MP Vaughn Miller.
“Mr. Miler’s record demonstrates his unwavering commitment and advocacy for the cause of the use of our natural resources for the benefit of the population.
“He was also a member of the first select committee formed on natural resources at the last sitting of the House of Assembly.”
BNRF is a non-profit organization co-founded in 2018 by Prescott Smith, Nahaja Black and Suzette Scott.
The organization said, “We support a strong regulatory framework and transparent controls over the county’s substantial natural resources and related revenues within the extractive industry in the public interest.
“The BNRF is ready to participate in the design and implementation of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources. The policies that will be established must recognize the present and future value of our resources.
“This bold move highlights the opportunities that exist to impact our economy and the economic empowerment of all citizens through partnership and ownership.”
