CLAYTON, NC – The City of Clayton Human Resources Department officially welcomed a new Director of Human Resources this week. Kenya Walls began her new role as Director of Human Resources on August 30. She will replace Catherine Whitley, who had held the position of Acting Director of Human Resources since February.
“I have no doubts that Kenya will do a great job for the town of Clayton,” said Rich Cappola, Acting City Manager of Clayton. “We generated a lot of interest in this role, and Kenya’s years of HR experience made her the ideal candidate for the role. I know she will be a great addition to our team.
Walls has 16 years of experience in the HR field. Prior to coming to Clayton, she was the Director of Human Resources for the NC Wildlife Resource Commission (NCWRC) for four years. Previously, she worked for a year as a personnel analyst for the NCWRC. She also worked with the NC Department of Health and Human Services for two years, one year with Lowe’s, two years with the NC Education Lottery, four years with Time Warner Cable and two years with Ceridian, a global software company. human capital management.
Walls received a BA in Communication and Leadership Studies from UNC Wilmington. She also did 15 hours of postgraduate work in HR and Business Management at Strayer University.

Walls’ starting salary is $ 100,000.
