Al-Khorayef and Shapps discuss critical minerals strategy

SHARM EL-SHEIKH — Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef met with British Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Grant Shapps on the sidelines of the Saudi Green Initiative forum, organized jointly with the COP27 summit organized by the city of Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.

During the meeting, they discussed the strengthening of bilateral relations between the two kingdoms in the industrial and mining sectors, and exchanged views on a number of issues of interest to the two countries, thus helping to raise the level of cooperation in both sectors.

The meeting also discussed the benefits of experiences between the two countries in the mining sector, including the critical minerals strategy.

This strategy aims to improve the value of critical minerals needed in future industries and to track current and future global demand, in addition to finding an ongoing list of these minerals for investment.

The Minister for Industry and Mineral Resources has also invited the UK Minister for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy to attend the International Mining Conference to be held in Riyadh next January. — SPA
